We've back... for now updated by: Sven Viking @ 11:40 NZST (28th)
In case anyone's been wondering where we went, UGN 3D got a new owner, and closed Gameplex down. We weren't given any notice whatsoever (I thought the server was just down temporarily, at first) :/. At the moment I'm using my ISP's web space (in New Zealand, so some people may find it sorta lagged). tAng (who runs Gameplex) has apparently bought his own server, so we'll probably be able to move to there sometime in the near future... probably :).
You can use the address: http://come.to/half-life to get to the site, it should redirect you to wherever we're at at the time.
Half-Life Front-End! updated by: Sven Viking @ 11:40 NZST (28th)
I've just finished and released the Half-Life Front-End 1.0 (HLFE)... it lets you change various settings, such as turning the console on and off, choosing a custom map, turning cheats on and off, performance optimization options, enabling MMX support... quite a lot of stuff in general.
You can then save the settings in one of three slots, and set one as the default... so you could have one set of options for multiplayer, one for single player, and one for testing maps, or whatever.
The program is good for newbies who have problems with setting up .cfg files / enabling the console / etc., and makes many things easier for experienced players.. check the HLFE page for more info.

Half-Life vs. Duke4 updated by: Sven Viking @ 11:40 NZST (28th)
Half-Life: Team Fortress is up against Duke Forever in the semi-finals of the Gamespot 3D Action Election. Things were close...
At first ;)...
At the time of writing, the
poll was still up, so you still have a chance to vote.

Action HL weapon shots updated by: Sven Viking @ 11:40 NZST (28th)
Oops, Update:The models in the screenshots will NOT be used in Action Half-Life (probably), they're Half-Life weapon models made by a modeller who made many of the ActionQuake2 weapon models, but they're to be used in a different Half-Life mod that he's working on. The models in AHL will probably be similar, though.
There's an interview
with Gooseman on the
Actors Guild which includes several screenshots of the weapon models
that'll be used in Action Half-Life (using the game engine,
not just rendered in 3DSMAX or anything). Look really good! BTW, one of
the links is wrong, it links to bennel~1.jpg instead of benell~1.jpg. Click
here to see the 'missing' shot.
Unrelated note: If updates
are scarce,
SvenCoop takes a reeeally long time to
be finished, etc., blame Fallout 2 :/.
Uplink movie info updated by: Sven Viking @ 11:40 NZST (28th)
The files still aren't up,
but there is a competition to win a backpack, more of the developers diary,
and you can join a mailing list to be notified as soon as the files have
been uploaded. Check the
site for info.
Worldcraft 2 newbies guide updated by: Sven Viking @ 11:40 NZST (28th)
Saw on Planet Half-Life that there's a Worldcraft 2 Guide for Newbies up on the HL Editing Resource Centre.
"This
guide covers features like how to install & configure Worldcraft 2.0.
Plus, explains some of the features it has. For people who don't know...Worldcraft
2.0 comes free with Half-Life and can be used to create your own levels".
